As you may recall from the last article, a growing number of friends encouraged me to simply shoot my “new” gun, and see what happens.
So, I did. Two weeks ago, I gave it one more look over, swabbed out the barrel, found a box of 230gr FMJ ball ammunition, and took it to the range.
I was rather apprehensive at first: was I going to wind up with an injury and a wrecked pistol after pulling this trigger? If it survived, what kind of groupings would this old barrel yield? Did I inherit a viable defensive weapon, despite its age, or did I get an historically interesting paperweight?
