(2ANEWS) – House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer exclusively revealed to The New York Post that Hallie Biden, President Biden’s daughter-in-law, received Chinese cash payments in 2017. The payments were revealed in subpoenaed bank records and were made by Biden family associate Rob Walker, who received $3 million on March 1, 2017, from a firm affiliated with CEFC China Energy.
According to the records, Hallie Biden received $35,000 over two transfers. These transfers form an unexpected new avenue of investigation for the Biden family’s foreign dealings. The records indicate that there may be additional unnamed Biden family members who received payments, besides Hunter Biden and first brother James Biden. The Oversight Committee is investigating the identity of the account holder for the bank account entitled “Biden,” which received $70,000 from Walker’s account in four installments paid from March 6 to May 17, 2017.
Comer said the records reveal details about the Biden family’s business practices and that the Committee is continuing to investigate. Hunter Biden and the President’s brother James reportedly earned at least $4.8 million from CEFC China Energy in 2017 and 2018. Robert Hunter Biden, Hunter’s legal first name, received $59,000 in a transfer on Nov. 9, 2015, from Robinson Walker LLC, according to the memo. Additionally, online business records suggest that Hunter Biden still owns a 10% stake in Chinese state-backed BHR Partners.
White House spokesman Ian Sams dismissed the new revelations as an “attack” on Biden’s family. Republican members of the committee accuse Joe Biden of being too soft on China on issues such as determining the origins of COVID-19 and stopping fentanyl exports.
The revelations come as the Oversight Committee ramps up its investigation into the Biden family’s foreign dealings and reviews Treasury Department suspicious activity reports on Biden family transactions. The Committee is also demanding sales records for Hunter Biden’s artworks sold through a Manhattan gallery. Hunter Biden is under federal investigation for possible tax fraud, illegal foreign lobbying, and other crimes.
